Detroit, the motor city, while known for its stylish, iconic automobiles, it is also a wellspring for some of the nation’s most endearing music and musicians.  This is the culture from which Rich sprang.  Over his 40 year career, he played and worked with giants like Martha Reeves from the Motown soul genre, Kimmie Horne from the jazz genre, classical music trailblazer, Arthur Lebrew, gospel great Dr. Rudy Hawkins, and pop music angel Aaliyah, whom he groomed for success on the Star Search TV show, which led to her stardom. 

On the road he added Detroit flavor and acumen to various touring stage plays, including: “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “The First Lady,” “The Devil Made Me Do It,” “Selma,” and others.  He continues to work with local playwrights to provide musical leadership and support for their theatrical productions.
